British Painter (1876-1916) Known for depicting scenes of everyday life during the 19th and early 20th century
"The Professor"
Oil on canvas
A contemplative Victorian interior portraying a scholar reading by lamplight. Warmly lit and richly detailed, this work reflects Fox’s mastery of domestic genre scenes.

Splitting at mitered corners and light wear does appear around the gilt wood frame. NYC gallery provenance. Excellent oil surface with light, stable craquelure, with no flaking, losses, or over cleaning.
Original or period-appropriate gilt frame with age-consistent fissures and rubbing
Structurally sound; ready to hang
Medium: Oil on canvas
Framed Size: 21” H × 16” W
Signature: Geo. Fox (lower right)
Provenance: Purchased from a New York City art gallery in the early 1960s
