This elegant Meissen urn vase was gifted in the 1960s by the family of Lieutenant General Graves Blanchard Erskine, United States Marine Corps, a highly decorated officer who commanded the 3rd Marine Division at Iwo Jima during World War II. After his distinguished service, he became Director of Special Operations at the U.S. Department of Defense in Washington, D.C. Upon retirement, General Erskine was advanced to the rank of four-star general on the retired list, reflecting his extraordinary contributions to the nation. This provenance adds a remarkable historical and collectible significance to the piece.
